Position Summary:

We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Project Engineer (Civil) who will report directly to the Senior Project Manager on site. This role is crucial for the successful execution and oversight of a particular section of an overall construction project. The ideal candidate will be highly active in the field, passionate about construction, and possess excellent communication and coordination skills. They will be responsible for meticulous documentation, real-time reporting, ensuring site organization, upholding stringent safety and quality standards, and actively managing on-site activities of vendors and sub-contractors. This position is a key asset in assisting the Senior Project Manager in achieving project objectives from planning to completion.

Detailed Roles & Responsibilities:

As a Project Engineer (Civil), you will be responsible for the hands-on management and oversight of a designated section of our construction projects, including but not limited to:

• Project Section Management & Execution:

  • Oversee and manage a particular section of the overall construction project, ensuring alignment with drawings, specifications, and master project schedules.  

  • Monitor the execution of work at the site, ensuring adherence to design specifications, quality parameters, and safety regulations.  

  • Conduct regular site visits and inspections to assess progress, quality, and compliance with project requirements.  

  • Supervise on-site construction teams and laborers, providing guidance and support to ensure efficient execution and adherence to work schedules.

• Planning, Scheduling & Cost Involvement:

  • Contribute to project planning stages, assisting in the development of detailed project schedules, timelines, and resource allocation.  

  • Provide input for cost estimation and budgeting processes by offering accurate field data and insights into material and labor requirements.  

  • Monitor project progress against established timelines and proactively identify potential bottlenecks or delays, taking steps to mitigate them.

• Documentation & Reporting:

  • Prepare and maintain accurate project documentation for the assigned section of work, including daily activity plans, progress reports, schedules, and change orders.  

  • Generate all daily and periodical reports relevant to your section and specific activities, providing real-time updates on materials, equipment usage, labor hours, and safety observations.  

  • Furnish necessary reports of critical activities and abnormal developments (progress, safety, quality, resources) to the Senior Project Manager.

• Technical Oversight & Quality Assurance:

  • Possess a strong knowledge of 2D and 3D CAD drawings (AutoCAD, Revit) and be able to interpret and validate quantities and specifications directly from them.  

  • Review technical drawings and project plans, assisting in solving engineering or site-related problems.  

  • Ensure all work meets company standards, industry standards, and legal regulations, conducting regular quality checks and addressing any issues immediately.  

  • Verify all scope, specifications, quality, and aesthetics from the client's perspective, ensuring the final product meets expectations.

• Vendor/Sub-contractor Management & Inspection:

  • Manage on-site activities of vendors and sub-contractors, ensuring their work aligns with project schedules and specifications.  

  • Conduct work inspections and authorize work measurements, referring to Work Orders (WO) and Purchase Orders (PO) for compliance.  

  • Monitor procurement of materials, equipment, and labor by contractors, advising on measures for improvement.

• Safety & Risk Management:

  • Actively promote and ensure compliance with all safety regulations and standards on site, assisting the safety team in implementing safety standards and conducting job safety analyses.  

  • Identify potential project risks early, such as bottlenecks or deviations, and assist in developing backup plans to mitigate possible issues.

• Coordination & Communication:

  • Maintain excellent communication and coordination with the Senior Project Manager, other engineers, architects, contractors, and all on-site personnel.  

  • Serve as a critical link between the design team, project managers, on-site workers, and stakeholders, ensuring smooth information flow.  

  • Participate actively in project meetings, offering technical insights and support.

• Assisting Senior Project Manager:

  • Act as an overall asset for assisting the Senior Project Manager at the site, providing support in all aspects of project execution and oversight.

Qualifications:

• Education:

  • Bachelor's degree (B.E./B.Tech) in Civil Engineering from a well-recognized university is a must.  

  • A Master's degree (M.Tech/M.E.) in a relevant specialization (e.g., Construction Management, Structural Engineering) is advantageous.

• Certifications (Highly Preferred):

  • Professional Engineer (PE) Certification from the Institution of Engineers (India) [IEI].  

  • Certifications in AutoCAD, Revit, Primavera, or MS Project.  

  • Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) or Project Management Professional (PMP) from PMI.

Expertise & Experience:

• Minimum of 5-8 years of progressive experience in civil engineering roles, with significant on-site experience in construction projects.  

• Proven experience in managing a particular section or aspect of large-scale infrastructure or building projects.  

• Technical awareness of civil, electro-mechanical, and architectural works.  

• Proficiency in project management software such as MS Project, Primavera, or equivalent.  

• Expert-level knowledge and hands-on experience with design software including AutoCAD (2D & 3D) and Revit. Familiarity with BIM360, Tekla, or Advance Steel is a plus.  

• Knowledge of relevant international standards (e.g., IEEE, IEC) and Indian construction regulations.  

• Experience with vendor bid evaluations and managing contractors/vendors to deliver quality work and services.

• Safety & Quality Awareness: A strong commitment to maintaining high safety standards and ensuring quality assurance throughout the construction process.  

• Enthusiasm & Field Dedication: A genuine passion for construction projects and a willingness to be fully active and dedicated to field operations, often in challenging environments.

• Attention to Detail: Meticulous in reviewing drawings, verifying measurements, and maintaining accurate records.
