🍌 Grand Naine — G9
If you are considering Cavendish for commercial plantation in Karnataka, Grand Naine (G9) is particularly important.
It is a semi-dwarf Cavendish selection and is widely cultivated commercially in India. An ICAR study describes Grand Naine as an important commercial AAA banana cultivar and reports experimental planting at 1.8 × 1.5 m spacing under subtropical conditions.
Under suitable management, commercial sources commonly report approximately 11–14 months from planting to the first harvest, but the actual crop cycle depends on climate, planting material, irrigation and nutrition.
